Passionate about Historically Informed Performance, Judy and Nicolas have performed together in concerts in Scotland and France. They offer three programs performing on period instruments.
This program highlights Baroque instrumental works by important Italian composers from the 17th & 18th centuries.
Repertoire: Violin & Cello Sonatas by Fontana, Castello, Pandolfi Mealli, D. Gabrielli & Bononcini; solo theorbo works by Kapsberger & Piccinini; solo keyboard works by A. Gabrielli & D. Scarlatti.
“Ayres for the Violin” was written for teaching purposes and had a decisive impact on instrumental music with the Italian style in England by N. Matteis (1650-1714), one of the earliest Italian violinists whose musical career succeeded in England.
Repertoire: Suites in C, G Major & E Minor from “Ayres for the Violin.”
Demonstration concert with emphasis on Baroque music and instruments, including Baroque violin, violoncello da spalla, theorbo & Spanish guitar. The concert offers students a rich exploration of the sounds and styles of the Baroque period.
